Using the latest Dynamic Simulation Modelling for Buildings

Dynamic Simulation Modelling (DSM)

After applying details of the constructions, internal conditions, and air conditioning systems for a building, we then use cutting-edge software, including Dynamic Simulation Modelling, to create both 3D and then Building Data models. Using this Dynamic Simulation Modelling software, we are then able to accurately report on sensible and latent loads, and array of environmental and energy parameters, that enable designers to understand a buildings performance before it is constructed or refurbished.

We use a Dynamic Simulation Modelling (DSM) Software called Thermal Analysis Software (TAS). This allows us to create 3D models of buildings as well as apply appropriate constructions, internal conditions, heating ventilation, and air conditioning HVAC systems. These are then simulated against design winter and summer weather data to look for any environmental performance characteristics of the building and systems. This is usually followed by simulations of performance for each hour of the year against the CIBSE/Met Office Test Reference Years and Design Summer Years to give annual performance results for any number of environmental factors. This enables us to:

  • Provide Independent Advice on the Appropriateness of Specified Building Fabric and Systems Options

  • Assist in the Design of Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning HVAC Systems

  • Pin-Point Thermal Problems Such as Summer Overheating

  • Evaluate Airflow Through Buildings E.G. For Naturally Ventilated Buildings

  • Calculate Energy Requirements and Consumption Targets in Proposed and Existing Buildings

  • Identify the Most Energy-Efficient Solutions from Among Different Building Design, Fabric and Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning HVAC Systems Options

  • Consider the Contribution from Renewable Technologies

  • Produce Level 5 Energy Performance Certificates EPCS, BRUKL Documents, Part L Checks, and BREEAM Assessment Data
